New Editions released for 3 Best-selling ASTM standards: ASTM A240, ASTM A370, and ASTM A480

I’ve blogged about all 3 of these ASTM standards before, since they are some of the most frequently requested standards Document Center sells.   We want to keep you posted when new issues are released, so here is the latest information on ASTM A240, ASTM A370, and ASTM A480.

ASTM A240/A240M-11b, “Standard Specification for Chromium and Chromium-Nickel Stainless Steel Plate, Sheet, and Strip for Pressure Vessels and for General Applications.”  This is the third revision for 2011, and replaces the A240/A240M-11 and A240/A240M-11a editions.

ASTM A370-11a, “Standard Test Methods and Definitions for Mechanical Testing of Steel Products.”  The second revision for 2011, replacing A370-11.

ASTM A480/A480M-11b, “Standard Specification for General Requirements for Flat-Rolled Stainless and Heat-Resisting Steel Plate, Sheet, and Strip.”  The third revision for 2011, superseding the A480/480M-11 and A480/A480M-11a editions.

These ASTM standards are available from Document Center Inc.  in red-line editions.  These are a quick and easy way to compare all of the changes between the current, active standard and the previous version.  You get copies both of the new edition and the previous edition with the markup visible to show you additions, deletions and other changes to the old text to create the new.  There is a slight increase in the price of the standard to cover the cost of this service.

Just order on Document Center’s website, www.document-center.com, and request the redline edition in your order notes.  Or contact us by phone (650-591-7600), fax (650-591-7617) or email (info@document-center.com).  Not all ASTM’s have redline editions, but when they are available they can save you a lot of time and money.

Happy New Year!

New ASTM A240/A240M 2011 Edition released on Chromium and Chromium-Nickel

The new 2011 Edition of ASTM A240 / A240M, Standard Specification for Chromium and Chromium-Nickel Stainless Steel Plate, Sheet, and Strip for Pressure Vessels and for General Applications, has just been released.  It covers chromium, chromium-nickel, and chromium-manganese-nickel stainless steel plate, sheet, and strip for pressure vessels and for general applications.

The use of the A240/A240M designation means that the document covers both feet and inches (inch-pound) as well as metric (SI) measurements.  The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately.  Values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard.

This is a frequently referenced ASTM standard, and it has been updated 4 times in 2009, 3 times in 2010, and now once again in 2011.  This is quite unusual, since ASTM standards normally get reviewed once every five years.

To purchase the new edition, or any other ASTM standard, go to Document Center’s website at www.document-center.com.  Or give us a phone call (650-591-7600), fax (650-591-7617) or send us an email (info@document-center.com).  All ASTM standards are sold under license agreement and the various compilations and other publications are available as well.

New ASTM A240 2010A Edition Released

ASTM A240 / A240M – 10a, Standard Specification for Chromium and Chromium-Nickel Stainless Steel Plate, Sheet, and Strip for Pressure Vessels and for General Applications, has just been released by ASTM International. The standard is a widely used specification for Chromium and Chromium-Nickel Stainless Steel.

It covers chromium, chromium-nickel, and chromium-manganese-nickel stainless steel plate, sheet, and strip for pressure vessels and for general applications. The steel described by the standard shall conform to the requirements as to chemical composition specified. Additionally, it shall conform to the mechanical properties specified.

The document features both inch-pound and metric measurements. This is notated in the document number (the A240/A240M means A240 inch-pound units/A240 Metric units).

All current ASTM standards and many obsolete revisions are available from Document Center Inc. on the website www.document-center.com, and by phone (650-591-7600), fax (650-591-7617) and email (info@document-center.com).
