New MIL-STD-3010 Rev C – Packaging Tests

The new MIL-STD-3010 Revision C, “Test Procedures for Packaging Materials and Containers,” has been released.  The 76-page standard contains the test methods for materials and containers used in military packaging.  Twelve of these tests were previously included in FED-STD-101 (now obsolete).  You can purchase a copy of the new MIL-STD-3010 from Document Center Inc. now, in either paper format or as a pdf download.

This is an extensive revision of the previous MIL-STD-3010 Revision B from 2008.  The document is intended to be used by military personnel in contracts to define the properties required in specific packaging applications.

Each of MIL-STD-3010‘s test methods has the requirements, with figures, charts, photographs, and so on to help the user correctly execute the test.  So once called out in a contract, the vendor will use this standard to meet the specified criteria.  And it is not unusual to see these MIL STD’s used in non-military applications as well.
