You can buy the new UL 94 6th edition, “Standard for Tests for Flammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances,” from Document Center Inc. now. The standard is a series of tests for flammability of polymeric materials used for parts in devices and appliances. The tests are used to evaluate flammability for a particular application.
The new 6th Edition of ANSI/UL 94 is unusual in that it is being issued as a routine update. There are no changes to the requirements from the previous pages of the Fifth Edition. In other words, if you have UL 94 5th Edition with all the change notices, it is identical with the new 6th Edition.
The 5th Edition, released in 1996, has had 14 change notices issued, the last 2 since the beginning of the year. So the committee determined that it was time to start fresh with a new edition number!
You can purchase all current UL standards from Document Center’s webstore, www.document-center.com. They are sold under license agreement with UL and come in paper format only. The obsolete editions are difficult to procure. They are special ordered and can take a month or more to be delivered due to the administrative process required by UL.
