SAE J30, “Fuel and Oil Hoses,” has just been released as the new 2012 Edition and is available from Document Center Inc. now. This SAE standard covers fuel, oil, or emission hose for use in coupled and uncoupled applications.
SAE J30 2012 Edition is be be used with gasoline, oil, diesel fuel, lubrication oil, or the vapors present in either the fuel system or in the crankcase of internal combustion engines in mobile or stationary applications. This standard covers the hose portion only. If assembly / coupling is required, that is to be agreed to between the customer and assembler, along with the specific requirements.
The document is the EPA sited and recommended test procedure for permeation testing of fuel lines used in lawn & garden equipment. It’s part of SAE’s ground vehicle standards collection. Oversight for the document is provided by the Non-Hydraulic Hose Committee.
