New SAE J771 2012 Edition on Automotive Printed Circuits

SAE J771 2012 Edition has just been released.  The 13-page ground vehicle standard is titled “Automotive Printed Circuits” and was stabilized in March 2012.  It is available now at Document Center Inc.

This report relates to recommendations and specifications governing the classification, composition, test procedures, and properties of printed circuits commonly used to replace cable in automotive low voltage systems.  SAE J771 is not applicable to miniature circuits for solid state devices, high impedance or high voltage functions.

The use of the term “Stabilized” at SAE has caused some confusion.  It means that the document will not be subjected to the usual periodic reviews for currency.  Users of a stabilized standard are responsible for verifying references and continued suitability or technical requirements.  Also, new technology may exist.
