New BS-EN-61326-1 2013 Edition – EMC Requirements for Electrical Equipment

There’s a new BS-EN-61326-1 2013 Edition, “Electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use. EMC requirements. General requirements,” and it’s available now from Document Center Inc.  It is the official English language edition of  EN 61326-1, the European adoption of IEC 61326-1 Edition 2.0.

This document specifies requirements for immunity and emissions regarding electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for electrical equipment, operating from a supply or battery of less than 1 000 V a.c. or 1 500 V d.c. or from the circuit being measured.  Equipment covered is intended for professional, industrial-process, industrial-manufacturing and educational use.

BS-EN-61326-1:2013 is a technical revision of the BS-EN-61326-1:2006 Edition. The significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition are:
– the immunity test levels and performance criteria have been reviewed;
– requirements for portable test and measurement equipment have been clarified and amended;
– the description of the electromagnetic environments has been improved.

For now, it’s still OK to continue to use the BS-EN-61326-1 2006 Edition, as it remains “current” even though it is replaced by the new 2013 Edition.
