New ASTM B367 2013 Edition for Titanium / Titanium Alloy castings

ASTM B367, “Standard Specification for Titanium and Titanium Alloy Castings,” has just been updated.  The new 2013 Edition is available now from Document Center Inc. and represents the first update of the document since 2009.

Titanium and titanium castings are essential for any number of our customers.  They are used to support medical devices, food processing plants, aerospace, nuclear power, energy and marine applications.  These castings are noted for their high strength-to-weight ratio as well as corrosion resistance.  And B367 is one of the primary standards used to implement their use.

The standard specifies 10 grades of titanium and titanium alloy – Grades C-2, C-3, C-5, C-7, C-8, C-9, C-12, C-16, C-17 and C-38.  If you go to our Document Center page for this standard (ASTM-B367), you’ll see more information on this in the bibliographic information provided to us by ASTM (we’re a licensed reseller of the ASTM Standards).  You can also go to our ASTM B367 revision history page for this specification to see the various updates of the standard.

The standard will cover terminology, how orders for castings that meet this specification should be made, materials and manufacture, chemical composition, heat treatment, chemical analysis, workmanship (including finishing and appearance), welding (repair), inspection and rejection, and so on.

The 2013 Edition updates the previous (now obsolete) 2009 one in that it adds Grades to the document.  You’ll find them referenced in both the Scope paragraph and in Table 1.

Titanium is a relatively new metal in it’s manufacturing applications (introduced in the 1950’s).  However, it has been widely adopted with it’s use supported by this ASTM specification.

Because Document Center is an authorized reseller of the ASTM standards, you can purchase them at the list price from our web store, www.document-center.com.  They will be available to you in both paper format and for pdf download.  Should you have any questions, our staff is available to work with you to answer them.  Reach us by phone (650-591-7600), fax (650-591-7617) or email (info@document-center.com).  We’ve been working with standards since 1982 and are here to support your use and maintenance of your compliance documentation.
