CISPR 16-1-1 for EMC Measuring Apparatus Updated

CISPR 16-1-1, “Specification for radio disturbance and immunity measuring apparatus and methods – Part 1-1: Radio disturbance and immunity measuring apparatus – Measuring apparatus,” has just been updated.  The new Edition 4.0 contains significant new material and is a must for all of you using CISPR 16-1-1.  It is available from Document Center Inc. in a variety of formats, including a redline edition.  All previous editions have been replaced with this new revision since it is a technical update.

FYI: The CISPR 16-1 series covers measurement instrumentation specifications and was expanded to include 6 parts in 2014, of which CISPR 16-1-1 is the first.  You’ll use this overview standard for specification of the characteristics and performance of measurement equipment used to detect radio disturbances in the range of 9 kHz to 18 GHz.  Also covered is equipment for discontinuous disturbance measurements.

What’s new in the Edition 4.0 for CISPR 16-1-1?  First, there’s a whole new Annex K that provides you with information for calibration requirements for measuring receivers.  This Annex is “normative” which means that compliance is required.  Other changes include updating the referenced documents section to include the latest edition of what are termed “normative references.”  There are also new definitions and corrected references to the new Part 6 of the series as well.

You’ll be able to purchase this document as a redline edition if you like.  This provides you with color-coded markup so that all changes are highlighted.  When you’re trying to determine what changes may be required for your product line or processes, a redline edition is a boon.  You can zero in on the affected areas confidently, making gap analysis an easier task.
