JESD 31 for Semiconductor Distributors has been updated!

Standard JESD 31 from JEDEC has been updated.  Its full title is “General Requirements for Authorized Distributors of Commercial and Military Semiconductor Devices”. The new Revision E will replace Revision D, which is now obsolete.  It’s available now from Document Center in hard copy format or for PDF download.

Suppliers of semiconductor devices face unique challenges and requirements.  JESD 31 lays out in clear terms all of those requirements.  If quality control is your realm of expertise, this standard is a must.

There are a lot of standards on quality control out there, so having one that applies specifically to your industry sector can be especially helpful.  Standard JESD 31 addresses everything from quality systems, document control and record keeping to inspecting, auditing, packaging, and counterfeit risk mitigation.  All of this is presented as it applies to semiconductor distributors.

Concerned about compliance when it comes to military distributing?  Have no fear!  The writers of JESD 31 have created a section specifically devoted to military distributors.  In it, issues like Certificate of Conformance, packaging procedures, and process control are covered.

For ease of compliance, the writers of the standard JESD 31 have also included an audit checklist template.  Each section of the checklist is devoted to a different requirement.  For example, the document control section lays out every requirement of the distributor’s document control system in plain English.  Finally, the document finishes with an extensive changes section.  This part of the document notes every change made between Revision E and the standard’s previous revisions.

You can pick up this revision of the JESD 31 and many other JEDEC standards from Document Center.  Just go to www.document-center.com and browse our standards library.  We offer this standard in hard copy, PDF, and for site-wide subscription.  We also provide notifications for every document you purchase at no additional charge.  You can go directly to the JESD 31 order page here.

Additional questions or concerns?  Just get in contact with us.  We are available by phone (650-591-7600) and email (info@document-center.com) and are ready to answer any questions you may have.  It’s what we’re here for.  We’ve been working with these standards for years, so you can rely on our advice.  Make us your Standards Experts!

There’s a new ACI 318 2011 Edition, Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary

The American Concrete Institute has just released the new 2011 Edition of ACI 318, “Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary.”  There’s also a new 2011 Edition for the ACI 318M Metric version as well.  The new revision covers the materials, design, and construction of structural concrete used in buildings and where applicable in non-building structures.  The Code also covers the strength evaluation of existing concrete structures.

Among the subjects covered are: contract documents, inspection, materials, durability requirements, concrete quality, mixing, and placing, formwork, embedded pipes, construction joints, reinforcement details, analysis and design, strength and serviceability, flexural and axial loads, shear and torsion, development and splices of reinforcement, slab systems, walls, footings, precast concrete, composite flexural members, prestressed concrete, shells and folded plate members, strength evaluation of existing structures, provisions for seismic design, structural plain concrete, strut-and- tie modeling in Appendix A, alternative design provisions in Appendix B, alternative load and strength reduction factors in Appendix C, and anchoring to concrete in Appendix D.  In particular, Chapter 21 covers earthquake-resistant structures.

The quality and testing of materials used in construction are covered by reference to the appropriate ASTM standard specifications. Welding of reinforcement is covered by reference to the appropriate American Welding Society (AWS) standard.

Uses of the Code include adoption by reference in general building codes, and earlier editions have been widely used in this manner. The Code is written in a format that allows such reference without change to its language. Therefore, background details or suggestions for carrying out the requirements or intent of the Code portion cannot be included.

The Commentary is provided for this purpose. Some of the considerations of the committee in developing the Code portion are discussed within the Commentary, with emphasis given to the explanation of new or revised provisions.

Much of the research data referenced in preparing the Code is cited for the user desiring to study individual questions in greater detail. Other documents that provide suggestions for carrying out the requirements of the Code are also cited.

The ACI 318, all ACI publications and the referenced ASTM and AWS standards are all available from Document Center Inc. at our website, www.document-center.com.  Or you can reach us by phone (650-591-7600), fax (650-591-7617) or email (info@document-center.com).  We have many publications available to assist those involved in construction and design.

New Amendment 2 for AAMI-ST79, Comprehensive guide to steam sterilization and sterility assurance in health care facilities

AAMI ST79, “Comprehensive guide to steam sterilization and sterility assurance in health care facilities,” has just been modified by Amendment 2.  This is a 134 page amendment that makes corrections to the original text.

You have a choice when purchasing the document.  You can get the whole document as a corrected reprint with the corrections interfiled (included).  Or you can purchase the amendment 2 as a standalone item, making the pen and ink changes to your original copy manually.

The document itself covers steam sterilization in health care facilities. The recommendations are intended to promote assurance of sterility and to guide health care personnel in the proper use of processing equipment.

Included within the scope of AAMI-ST79 are functional and physical design criteria for sterilization processing areas (decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and sterile storage areas), staff qualifications, education, and other personnel considerations, processing procedures, installation, care, and maintenance of steam sterilizers, quality control, and quality process improvement.

Document Center provides AAMI standards via our website, www.document-center.com.  Or you can contact us by phone (650-591-7600), fax (650-591-7617) or email (info@document-center.com) to order copies.  Most AAMI standards are available in both paper and electronic format.

AAMI-ST79 – The new 2010 Edition is available for preorder now

The AAMI recommended practice ST79, Comprehensive guide to steam sterilization and sterility assurance in health care facilities, is now approved in a new 2010 Edition and public distribution is pending.

The standard consolidates 5 previous AAMI steam sterilization standards, the AAMI ST33, AAMI ST35, AAMI ST37, AAMI ST42 and AAMI ST46.  It was the first AAMI standard to be released in a binder edition, since the material covered is extensive.  The binder format facilitates easy access to the various topics, like lowering and limiting bioburden before sterilization, properly preparing items for sterilization, selecting the appropriate sterilization parameters, and establishing and implementing controls to maintain the sterility of sterilized items until they are used.

Users of this standard will find guidance to promote assurance of sterility and to guide health care personnel in the proper use of processing equipment.  The document includes functional and physical design criteria for a number of sterilization processing areas  including decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and sterile storage areas.  There are sections to assist with staff qualifications, education and other personnel considerations.  Also covered are  processing procedures,  installation, care and maintenance of steam sterilizers, quality control and, of course, quality process improvement.

The new ANSI/AAMI-ST79:2010 replaces the previous 2006 Edition with both Amendments 1 and 2, which is no longer available.  Because the new ANSI/AAMI-ST79 was only recently approved (9/3/2010), there will be a delay until the new edition is available.  Normal lag time can be from 1 to 3 months for the formatting and publishing functions to take place and the standard to become publicly available.

To purchase your copy of ANSI/AAMI-ST79, use our website at www.document-center.com, or call us at 650-591-7600, fax 650-591-7617, or email to info@document-center.com.

Your order can be placed now and shipped as soon as it is released.
