EMC Compliance is an important part of many electrical engineer’s jobs. So changes to the major EMC standards are critical to track. One such new update is the IEC 61000-3-3 Edition 3.0, “Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) – Part 3-3: Limits – Limitation of voltage changes, voltage fluctuations and flicker in public low-voltage supply systems, for equipment with rated current < or = 16 A per phase and not subject to conditional connection.” The document covers the limitation of voltage fluctuations and flicker impressed on the public low-voltage system.
IEC 61000-3-3 2013 contains 4 Annexes in addition to the body of the text. They cover:
- Application of limits and type test conditions for specific
equipment - Test conditions and procedures for measuring d max voltage changes caused by manual switching
- Determination of steady state voltage and voltage change
characteristics, as defined in IEC 61000-4-15:2010 max voltage changes caused by manual switching - Input relative voltage fluctuation ΔV/V for Pst = 1,0 at output

This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2008. The bilingual edition now available contains first the English language text and then the French. It is a technical revision generated to harmonize the IEC 61000-3-3 with changes made in IEC 61000-4-15:2010. A redline edition is available, should you want to have the changes defined.
The IEC 61000 series on EMC, Electromagnetic Compatibility, is organized into 6 distinct parts: Part 1: General, Part 2: Environment, Part 3: Limits, Part 4: Testing and measurement techniques, Part 5: Installation and mitigation guidelines, and Part 9: Miscellaneous.
